Wow what a day, we have become a family of 4 and things are great. I can say that now, but our Gotcha Moment was less than desirable. However, that is good in many ways. On our way to the Civil Affairs office our guide told us that there going to be approximately 50 families there to get their children. OK, there were only about 6 waiting with us in the lobby. We knew it was going to be very overwhelming.
We got there and indeed it was chaos. There were families and crying babies everywhere. We found out that Jax was not there yet, so we waiting. About 15 minutes later, Eric comes running to me, He’s Here, He’s Here. We saw him and he was wearing a red shirt. Our guide met them and then told us that the nanny was taking him potty. She was actually changing him into a beautiful royal blue Chinese silk outfit to present him to us. When his nanny brought him to us, he wanted nothing to do with us or Abi, and kept shaking his head NO. Hmmm, this is going to be difficult. We were patient, kept back and kept hoping he would come to us on his own with enticements of snacks and toys. Nope, that didn’t work. They finally told me just to take him- yeah, that didn’t work out so great either. He arched his back and began wailing. I just held him. He eventually accepted a sippy of apple juice and he drank and drank and drank. He calmed down and began accepting fruit puffs from Eric. He was fine in the van ride back to the hotel and loved looking at the buses and cars. Back in the room, we found out he loves cars and is especially holding tight to the one that we had mailed him. He played hide and seek in the curtains with Abi and fought over books with her.
We ventured out to Lucy’s for dinner as we had all skipped lunch. Eric fed him a noodle soup and then we let him feed himself. He did great throughout dinner.
Back in the hotel, he and Abi took their first bath together and he loved pouring water over her head.
We finally laid him down in his crib, with hugs and kisses and he was out. He has slept the entire night without making a noise. We caught him sucking his thumb a few times during the night, but he is not the thumb addict that Abi is. We pray that he wakes up and his happy to see us, not like we were just a bad dream or something.

Congratulations Kendra, Eric and Abi on your new son and brother!! Congratulations Jaxon, on your very own family!! We are rejoicing with you in Texas!
ReplyDeleteLook at your handsome little guy! I see a hint of a smile waiting to come out in some of those pictures, and an outright grin in the one with big sister! So sorry for Jaxon's tears and the tough transition. Poor babe-- it's so scary, I can't even imagine what goes through their little heads and hearts. Praying that he quickly realizes that he is in a good place surrounded by more love than he can imagine!
Congratulations again, and thank you for sharing your joy with us!!
Blessings from Texas~

I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see Jaxon with his new family! You have all waited for so long. He looks so happy to be playing with big sister Abi, it won't be long before he settles in to his new family! I love the photo of Jaxon sitting on the floor between the beds at the WS with his silk outfit on. We have almost the same exact photo of Carter from our Family Day. We can't wait to follow the rest of your trip!
